Current Wire-Free Bra Favorites

Happy #FitTipTuesday, let’s talk wire-free bras. If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know that I preach the importance of properly fitting bras. If you’re new (hi, welcome), you can check out a few resources that I’ve created here, here, here and here to familiarize yourself with what a properly fitting bra looks like. In case you’re pregnant or nursing, be sure to check out my guide here (information provided by fit expert Emily Constantine Doren).

When it comes to wire-free bras, most of the rules that you’ve learned go straight out the window. Wait, what?! Yes, you read correctly. Here’s the thing— when you forgo wires, you forgo separation and your opportunity for the best lift and support. If you’re one of those people who “hates” underwire bras, I’m going to guess that you’ve never been fitted properly at a local specialty shop or Nordstrom! Of course, everyone is different and there are some people who can’t wear underwire for a variety of medical reasons but generally, that’s the case. It always hurts my heart a little bit when I see people posting wire-free bras as their favorite “everyday bra” which brings me to my next point…

Time and place: there are a variety of situations when wire-free (you’ll also hear me call them comfort or lounging) bras are appropriate. For someone who is large and heavy breasted like myself (34H/I - US sizing), it can be incredibly painful to go without an underwire bra during the day, moving around and sitting at my desk. I’ll notice my poor posture and clothes don’t fit as nicely. See my favorites here! As soon as it’s time to log off for the day, I’ll throw on one of my favorite comfort options - shared below! So please keep in mind, all of these bras are recommended under the preface that they’re comfort / lounging bras for me. Some women prefer to sleep in these styles as well.

Regardless, just promise me you won’t expect to run a mile in any of these, you can check out my sports bra favorites for that! With that said, I think all of these do a great job and supporting me (considering there are no wires). You can click on the text to shop products / brands directly.

True & CO

STYLES I LOVE: True Body Lift Scoop Neck Bra (shown here- size L FULL CUP), True Body Lift Triangle Adjustable Strap Bra, and True Body Lift V Neck Racerback Bra. You can also shop all of these items on Amazon here!

GOOD FOR: A smooth look. This bra lays really nicely and it’s smooth underneath clothes. It does not pinch at my back, conforms nicely to my body. Fits up to 42DDD.

STYLES I LOVE: Say Never Curvy Soft Bra Sweetie (shown here- size L) and Soft Cotton Curvy Bralette

GOOD FOR: All shapes and sizes, honestly. Cosabella carries a wide range of styles for small to fuller bust + maternity. I wear the bra shown here at least twice a week.

SUPPORT LOCAL: You can shop many of these styles at Lace & Day- they’ll ship anywhere in the US.

STYLES I LOVE: Tank Top Hipster (shown here - size M) and Tummy Tucker

GOOD FOR: The “after-bra" bra, this tank gives a ridiculous amount of support considering there is no shelf in there. Be sure to pay attention to the sizing chart, goes by band size!

SUPPORT LOCAL: You can shop these styles at Lace & Day- they’ll ship anywhere in the US.

STYLES I LOVE: Butter Bralette (shown here - size XL), Butter Comfy and Full Circle Bralette.

GOOD FOR: Almost no support. I used to wear this when I’d go get spray tanned when needed some loose support. This style is good for smaller busts.

SUPPORT LOCAL: You can shop many of these styles at Lace & Day- they’ll ship anywhere in the US.

Honorable mentions:

I reached out to my favorite ladies within the #ProperlyFittingBraClub Facebook group to see more of their favorite wire-free comfort styles. A few fit-focused retailers and styles that I’d recommend checking out are:

Panache - Andorra Wire-Free Bra | Natori - Bliss Perfection Contour Soft Cup Bra

And some not very fit-focused brands overall for underwire bras but these wire-free styles look promising:

Harper Wilde - The Bliss (up to 3X) | Spanx - Bra-llelujah!® Lightly Lined Bralette | Aerie Eyelash Lace Plunge Bralette | Hanes Women's Cozy Seamless Wire Free Bra

So, did your favorites make the list? Feel free to leave any questions or suggestions below. I hope this was helpful! I know the realm of finding properly fitting undergarments can be difficult so never hesitate to reach out via email or in the PFBC Facebook group. We’re here to help! Thanks for reading. xx CMK
