Hair Update: What I'm Using Lately + Easy Wave Tutorial

Back in November, I visited the Living Proof Headquarters. I was ecstatic because I was completely obsessed with their Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo (click here for a tutorial on how to use it) among a few other favorites. What I didn’t realize is that the experience would completely change what I thought about hair. My hair has always been a struggle for me, it’s always felt so lifeless and difficult to style. I toured their labs and learned the science behind their products, each created to solve a hair problem. I learned that it takes time to see results from their products because it actually detoxes your hair from and improves the overall health. You can read more about that here.

My mind was blown and I decided to forgo all other hair products and see what would happen if I only used Living Proof. Since mid November 2019 to now (May 2020), I’ve ONLY let Living Proof products touch my hair. Here’s what I’ve experienced:

  • I can go longer in between haircuts. I usually did 8 weeks because my ends become split and tangle easily, I now go 10-14.

  • My hair feels healthier, stronger and fuller. I used to have a lot of breakage and suffered some hair loss in 2018. I don’t think it’s 100% because of Living Proof but I do think it has helped.

  • I wash my hair SO much less- I’ve been able to go longer in between washes because my hair doesn’t get and feel as dirty. Please note, I used to wash my hair every day because of that “greasy” feeling. Not anymore - even when I severely sweat!

  • My hair is a lot easier to style. I learned that Living Proof products are created to be layered. I used to be scared of using so many different products thinking they’d make my hair greasy- but these DO NOT! I now use between 2-5 styling products on my hair.

My favorite Living proof products:

I just checked their site and the code CARALYN is still valid for a free mini size dry shampoo with the purchase of $30 or more! This may sound silly, but definitely follow the directions on the bottle. Before I went to HQ, I realizing that I was using most of the products wrong.

Now, onto styling:

I don’t like to fuss much with my hair but I do like it to look presentable. A few things that I’ve found helpful for styling is the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer-it dries my hair SO quickly and I think it’s worth the hype but is definitely a splurge. I’ve also had luck with the Revlon Dryer + Volumizer but found your hair needs to be damp, not wet to be used most effectively. For curling, I swear by my Sultra wands. I have the 1 inch and 1.5 inch wands- keep in mind the smaller the wand, the tighter the curl. Here’s what I use to style:
