BK's Style Essentials - Pants Every Guy Should Own
BK is taking over the blog today on a new series titled BK’s Style Corner. After years of requests, he’s finally agreed to start a series to help the fellas out there make getting dressed a little bit easier. Without further ado, take it away BK!
If moving opened my eyes to anything it was that Caralyn and I have way too much stuff. I also realized that I have way too many clothes… that I don’t wear. It was important to purge and make sure the pieces I kept in the new closet were essential and versatile to be worn going forward. As we transition from spending the majority of our time in athlesiure wear to actual clothes, having the right pairs of pants in your wardrobe make it easier to get dressed and let your intentions be known to the world.
Every Day Stretch Denim
Its 2021, where regular people can be astronauts and men can wear stretchy jeans. Jeans don’t have to be stiff and uncomfortable, you don’t need to break them in. Levi’s Stretch Denim and Express Stretch Jeans get the job done. At a higher price point, DUER Performance Denim has been my go to for the past few years. I have a pair in every color and get them tailored for the perfect fit.
Travel Pant / Tech pant
I see a lot of retailers hopping on the “tech” or travel pant trend, for good reason. They are comfortable and look good.
For those that need to get learnt, a tech pant is defined as a type of men's casual trouser which uses scientifically-developed fabrics to provide moisture-wicking properties, breathability, ease of movement, and an overall higher level of comfort compared to all-cotton or mostly cotton traditional alternatives. In short, they are comfortable pants that look stylish. You need a pair if you still wear sweats or gym clothes on an airplane.
These Commuter Pants in slim from Rhone are a closet staple. JCrew has a slightly cheaper option from Rhone and JCrew Factory also had a budget friendly pair.
joggerS
A nicer pair of joggers can basically double as a more dressed down travel pant. I have lived in these Lululemon Surge Joggers for the past few months, and these Commuter Flexknit Joggers from Rhone are a staple for long plane rides and travel days or to go with a bomber jacket and tee shirt with white sneakers. Caralyn also got me into Vuori’s joggers, they are really comfortable for wearing at home but presentable enough to wear out of the house.
Outdoor Pant
I like the outdoors, I just don’t like wearing pants outdoors…..
Not like that, I just much rather be on a beach wearing swimming trunks. Nevertheless, I do still tend to get outside in the colder months. Whether its doing some fishing or working outside. Its important to have a good pair of pants that you aren’t afraid to get dirty but still look good in. These LL Bean x Todd Snyder Climbing Pants are one of my favorite things to come out of the latest collab between the two companies. Amazon Essentials has a nice hiking pant that I’ve worn before as a knock around pant fishing.
Chino / Five pocket Pant
Most people think of chinos as “khakis”, I’m not a rocket scientist but they are different and khaki is a color. Your chino is more of a lighter weight fabric with a woven twill weave. I googled that. Anyways, you can dress them up or dress them down. It doesn’t really matter. I like to keep a few pairs of different colors in my closet for when I’m feeling adventurous and not stuck on wearing black or navy jeans. A nice pair of “khaki” chinos is basic but I think gets the job done.
Are you loving this new series? What topic should I cover next? Be sure to check out more of finds and picks on Caralyn’s Amazon Storefront. I’ve got a few lists going of my favorite things and keep an eye out for my men’s gift guide. Thanks for reading.
