What To Wear For Thanksgiving
By the time Thanksgiving arrives, I’m usually ready for the chance to slow-down and reflect on the many things I’m grateful for. Our Thanksgiving plans this year include a family gathering at my dad’s house and watching the Buffalo Bills game. No matter what your Thanksgiving plans involve, I hope this post gives you some inspiration to help you feel comfortable, confident and festive this season! Here are four no-fail outfit formulas.
I tried to include items that will ship quickly, in case you’re in the mood to purchase but feel free to recreate these looks with items you already have in your wardrobe. Would love to hear your thoughts below!
FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS + SWEATER + BOOTS
This is a no-fail outfit formula that I wear nonstop as soon as the temperatures call for it. It’s comfortable, it’s chic and allows some extra indulgences. I’m wearing this pink sweater (USE CARALYN15) in an XL, faux leather leggings in an XL, regular (USE CARALYN10) and these boots. You could also do a pair of flats or heels as well. For more legging recommendations, be sure to check out this post! Sharing a few more sweater favorites below and more tops for legging recommendations on this post.

FLOWY DRESS + HEELS
If I’m going to wear a dress through the holidays, it’s gotta be flowy and forgiving. I recently shared this dress on a recent blog post and you gals sold it out in black (what I’m wearing in an XL) but it also comes in two other prints that are adorable and would pair nicely with tights. I styled the dress with these cap toe heels, quilted bag and red tassel earrings. I wore a plunge style bra and would do a mid rise shapewear short underneath. I also think it would be cute with black stockings, I love Sheertex tights and a black ankle boot or a knee / thigh high boot. This dress is work friendly and it’s also fancy enough to wear to a wedding or dressing up for the holidays. Sharing a few more picks below:

BUTTON UP or blouse + COMFY DENIM
I hesitated putting jeans on this post because sometimes they can be uncomfortable after a big meal but if you’ve got a comfy pair that you love, you can’t go wrong pairing them with a classic button down and a pop of color shoes. In case you missed it, I recently shared my Fall 2021 Denim Guide and the secrets to Buying Button Up Shirts which may be helpful. I also shared 16 ways to style black denim here! Above I’m wearing this shirt (sadly sold out, similar vibe here), these jeans (32R) and these heels, similar pair here. Sharing two pairs of my more comfortable denim + two button ups I love!
SKIRT + SWEATER
I discovered this skirt last year thanks to a sweet reader’s recommendation and can attest that it’s a good one! I have it in navy and red and think it runs quite generously. It has an elastic waistband which makes it super comfortable. You can dress it up with heels or an ankle boot, but I kept it casual here with a white sneaker and cashmere sweater (XL). You can wear a simple crewneck or v-neck sweater and some fun jewelry for an effortlessly fierce look! Linking a few more skirt finds below.
