Empty Beauty Finds, Part II
I’m always fascinated when others share their trials and tribulations on things they found and loved, especially when it comes to beauty products. In case you missed my first post of empties, you can check it out here! In the meantime, I wanted to share a number of my favorite beauty related empties that I’ve had some luck with.
LIVING PROOF FULL SHAMPOO + CONDITIONER
I made the switch to Living Proof shampoo and conditioners in November of 2019 and NEVER looked back. It has completely transformed my hair and has allowed me to wash it less. I will say, if you’re not used to using a silicone-free shampoo or conditioner, your hair definitely goes through a detox period. In my experience, it was 100% worth it. I always struggled with my hair and now I don’t stress about it!
LIVING PROOF PERFECT HAIR DAY TRIPLE DETOX SHAMPOO
Now that I’ve “trained” my hair and wash it less, sometimes I get more product build up. This shampoo is really great for an extra deep clean. I use it maybe 1-2x a month so it lasted me awhile. I always go through shampoo quicker than conditioner so by using two at once, I can kind of time when they all run out.
LIVING PROOF PERFECT HAIR DAY DRY SHAMPOO
This stuff is my holy grail hair product. I’ve used it for years but I’ve only been using it properly more recently. I’ve done a few tutorials on how to use this dry shampoo most recently here! I used to wash my hair every single day until I started using Living Proof, now I can go much longer. To read more about my hair favorites, you can check out this post.
FIRST AID BEAUTY ULTRA REPAIR CREAM (TWO SIZES)
I almost regret introducing this stuff to BK because now we go through it twice as fast but if that tells you anything, it is THE BEST! It is one of the only products that I will use on my face and body. We both love lathering it on post-shower or on extra dry/rough patches throughout the day. Another fun fact? 10% of the retail sales of these two sizes will be added to the brand’s $1 Million commitment towards relieving student loan debt. You can read more about that here!
Earlier in the winter months, I read somewhere that it’s good to use a cream cleanser so I thought I would give this a whirl! It’s a nourishing cream-to-foam, soap-free cleanser that’s formulated with naturally soothing Greek yogurt and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. I loved it, would definitely re-purchase again.
COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD RADIANT CLEANSING BALM
If you’re a fan of double cleansing, this is one of my favorites. You can read more about my favorites here and here. You apply it onto a full face of makeup dry and work it in as it completely melts off. I don’t typically use it unless I have a full face of makeup on but when I do, I use these reusable microfiber makeup removing wipes and it gets even the peskiest mascara off like a dream!
I received this as a gift from the brand and honestly, I was scared to use it because of the expensive price tag! Almost $400 for a serum that Kim Kardashian uses? I was curious but WOW that’s a lot of coins. Did I love it? Yes. I loved the way it felt on my skin and the earthy/grassy scent to it. Did I notice a huge difference? Not particularly… Would I purchase it on my own? Probably not.
FIRST AID BEAUTY COCONUT SKIN SMOOTHIE PRIMING MOISTURIZER
I started using this in college, it is really great for a little glow on no makeup days and doubles as a primer for the days that I do. However, when I finished this tube I decided to try out their Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer and I like I like it 100x more! You can’t really go wrong with either but I think I’ve switched. They have similar feelings on the skin but the HA one has less of a pinky/pearly tone to it.
RITUAL ESSENTIAL FOR WOMEN MULTIVITAMIN 18+
I’ve used Ritual vitamins for about 1.5+ years now and I’m a firm believer in their products and company. They’re committed to transparency, you can trace all of their ingredients back to their origins. Ritual vitamins are vegan friendly, gluten and major allergen free, non-GMO and don’t have any artificial colorants or synthetic fillers. I have them on auto-ship so I never have to worry about replenishing. You can use “CMK10” for 10% off your first three months!
FIRST AID BEAUTY ULTRA REPAIR FIRMING COLLAGEN CREAM
I started testing this out in December and I was skeptical… ANOTHER product on the market with collagen? What does collagen even do anyway? Well thanks to FAB’s education, I learned that our skin starts to lose collagen at 25 so I quickly started lathering that all over my face and neck. Turns out, this stuff is AMAZING. It’s a luxurious moisturizer that hydrates and helps visibly firm skin. I’m on my second jar now.
DRUNK ELEPHANT D-BRONZI ANTI POLLUTION BRONZING DROPS
I wish they would make this in a gallon sized tub because I would lather this head to toe every single day. I will say, a little does go a long way since it is super concentrated so this tube lasts forever. All you need is a tiny pump mixed into your daily moisturizer or primer for an instant, non permanent glow. I use it every single day whether I wear makeup or not and this is my 6th or 7th tube. Cannot recommend this ENOUGH!
TULA COOLING AND BRIGHTENING EYE BALM
Tula gets a bad rap as overhyped but I’ve been using their products on and off since 2015. I think some of their products have really worked for me and for a few people I know and love. I think this eye balm is my favorite product of them all. It gives a really nice cooling and brightening effect that works with or without makeup. Sometimes I put it on in the morning (before washing my face) just to feel AWAKE! Just checked and “CARALYN” still works for a discount if you’re interested in trying.
TRISH MCEVOY INSTANT EYE LIFT UNDEREYE TREATMENT CONCEALER
One of my best friend’s use to work for the brand and introduced me to this stuff, it’s one of my top five favorites from the brand. I typically apply my usual Nars concealer and then this on top of it for extra brightening. If you don’t have a lot of darkness underneath your eyes, you could probably get away with just this! I just shade “light beige.”
GOT EMPTIES?
Seeing all of these empties piled up made me feel wasteful. Luckily, one of my kind readers reminded me of Nordstrom’s partnership with Terracycle so you can bring your empties to any Nordstrom location for free. From there, they will take your empties and recycle them for free! Their goal is to recycle 100 tons of packaging by 2025.
I hope you enjoyed digging through my empties! Should I continue to do these? Feel free to leave any questions or beauty related requests below. Thanks for reading! xx CMK
