Naghedi Bag Review
Naghedi Bag Review
I discovered Naghedi bags early this summer when I was shopping online at Tuckernuck! I immediately fell in love with and purchased the St. Barths medium-size bag and began sharing it on my social media accounts. Little did I know that the smaller female-owned brand is based in New York and strives for ethical and sustainable practices. Born out of the desire to create a classic bag that can outlast a season, Naghedi utilizes state-of-the-art fabrics that are lasting and easily cleaned and cared for. Their bags are individually hand-woven, and skilled weavers can only produce one or two bags each day.
The fabric is what I fell in love with first, when my medium tote arrived, I was a bit skeptical because it looked a little small. I was shocked that I could easily and comfortably fit my laptop and other items. It is made of handwoven strands of neoprene, so there is a good amount of stretch. Both of the larger sizes come with a detached pouch that matches the print, I meant to photograph that, but I forgot. The pouch is a great size, and Iβve been using it for cords, medication, etc.
The Naghedi team was kind enough to send me the mini and large sizes so I could compare and show you the sizing! When shopping for bags online, I always wish they showed it being carried on a range of body types, so I decided to model the bags so you can see how they look on me for scale. The handles on the St Barths Medium and Large Totes fit over the shoulder. Since they are woven neoprene, the handles are intentionally produced a bit short to allow for a stretch once weight is added to them and fit nicely over the shoulder.
The bags begin at around $240, and while I understand this is a splurge, I was excited to highlight a small, female-owned business with a focus on ethical and sustainable practices. I have been using the bags all summer long, I brought the large size to our recent trip to Anguilla! While I did love the bigger size for a beach trip, I think the medium size has been my favorite for everyday use. The mini size is great, too, I hope to use it more this fall. It could be great for travel, especially since it comes with a removable crossbody strap.
My biggest regret in getting the white large tote is that I got the handles dirty pretty quickly, especially when I was wearing bronzer/tanner. However, it says on their website that you can wash/clean easily. Their directions say that they chose neoprene as their signature fabric since it is easily cleaned and cared for. Naghedi suggests spot cleaning with mild soap or gentle detergent diluted in water when possible. A magic eraser works great on tougher stains. Some of their styles/colors are machine washable though they donβt recommend doing so unless necessary. Solid colors can be washed, dip dyes cannot be washed, and plaids- they ask you to reach out and ask them. Machine washing instructions are gentle cycle, cold, and separately. Remove the inside pouch and strap before washing, and lay flat to dry thoroughly. They have more FAQs answered on this page!
All in all, I am really happy with my purchase and would recommend Naghedi bags! I probably would have made different choices in colors and gone for darker neutrals, especially going into the fall, but I am really happy with what I have. Iβve linked a few more bags that have caught my eye on their site below.
