Nursery Reveal
Welcome to Baby K’s
Nursery Reveal
Brian and I are ecstatic to finally share the nursery room reveal with you. Since we moved nearly two years ago, we’ve put a lot of love into this old home, but I think this may be our favorite room yet. We’ve previously shared our dining room, the front entranceway, and our morning room. I’ve also shared our living room, primary bedroom, and my closet on the “home” tab of the blog.
We had the opportunity to partner with Pottery Barn Kids to create the space of our dreams! We wanted to stay true to our transitional (traditional + modern) style while keeping the color palette more neutral yet still playful and welcoming for a child. Let’s look at the space before, primarily used as a filming/photo studio where I created endless hours of content. It arguably has the best lighting in the house, which made it ideal for photos and video but I’ve happily been evicted.
Before
We worked closely with Michael P. Design of MichaelPDesign.com and Room to design the room to create a functional space for our little one, choosing items from Pottery Barn Kids. Michael helped us select our wall color when we first moved in, and it’s Benjamin Moore Classic Grey, the perfect neutral tone that changes depending on day and light, which we have throughout the house and love. Sherwin Williams’ Pure White is our trim and other woodwork throughout the house. We had all the woodwork, walls, and floors painted/refinished before we moved in.
We wanted to add a little pizzazz to the room and came across this tropical print paper from Divine Savages and immediately fell in love. It was the perfect blend of what we were looking for, weaving in our love for travel to warmer climates and the playfulness with the animals while still staying true to the neutral tone of the room. We had some significant delays and hiccups with the arrival of the paper (long story short, it got delivered to a smoke shop instead of our house). Thankfully, Monica at 716Accents had a cancellation and installed it quickly on two of the four walls, allowing the room to come together before the baby arrives!
After
Without further ado, welcome to the nursery!
It’s all in the details!
I knew I wanted a black crib based on the inspiration pictures I’d seen, and we ended up choosing this 3-in-1 option that converts into a toddler bed and can grow with the space. I like that it comes in so many different color variations too. To add some fun texture to the room, we doubled layered this star rug in black with this machine-washable white faux fur rug which has quickly become big brother Walter’s favorite place to hang. I couldn’t resist this toy car that added a fun touch!
It took me a while to decide on a chair, but I’m glad we went with Dream Manual & Power Swivel Glider Recliner. It rocks when it’s up, which is why I thought the ottoman would give us some versatility and extra seating when it’s extended, the fabric is “Ash” for both, and it’s incredibly comfortable. I came across this photo gallery frame set and had a lot of fun going through some of our favorite memories and adding them in black and white to the frames; they have hooks on them to work horizontally or vertically! I look forward to updating them to baby pictures once he arrives. In the meantime, they’re moments and places that mean a lot to Brian and me!
Michael P helped us create this custom wall/shelving unit using the build your own Cameron Wall system in ‘Simply White.’ To create this formation, we ordered 1 x Short Cabinet with Doors, 2 x Cubbies, and 3 x Drawer Bases. The installation included reinforcement that keeps everything secure.
We also chose the Circle Extra Wide Dresser and Topper set, which has great storage and will be used as our changing table. The topper is removable but is secured for diaper changes. Keeping with the circle theme, we have this circle mirror on top, which compliments the space nicely. To the left of the dresser, we chose this Personalized Ruler Growth Chart that we’ll be able to measure the baby’s height with once he’s old enough! I chose a bunch of organizational items from the Quinn collection including the nursery storage, oval basket, underbed storage for the closet, and the woven hamper!
We were fortunate to have this closet all set up with storage before we moved in and utilized it with more baskets and these clear bins! In the hanging space, I used my favorite type of hangers in the 11’ size. I may have to do a separate post on our organization and things that worked for us once we get into a groove because I could go on and on about that. I have more of my organizational and baby picks from the room here!
Thanks for reading!
I hope you love this space as much as we do! Can you see why it’s our new favorite room in the house? We are looking forward to many memories to be created in this room and bringing our baby boy home soon. Let me know what you think about the space; feel free to leave a comment below.
