First Birthday Party: Decor And Gift Ideas!

PARTY INSPIRATION & gift ideas for a

first birthday party

It’s hard to believe that in a few short weeks, we will have a one-year-old in the house! It feels like just yesterday that I was sharing my pregnancy journey. I received a few messages about how many of you are on similar timelines, so I thought it’d be fun to share some inspiration if you’re planning for any first birthday pictures or party or if you’re just a supportive auntie/uncle/grandparent looking for some gift ideas! I’ve got you covered, here’s what I’ve found.

Let’s start with

Party Decor

We recently took some family photos, first birthday photos, and smash cake pictures in the backyard, so I’ve been on the hunt for some reasonable and festive decor. This set is perfect for the cake moment in the high chair, it adds a festive touch to the day. This hat is made of soft and lightweight fabric, although I cannot guarantee it will stay on for more than a minute. This cake topper was a little long, but we could shorten it for the small cake (shown below). We chose a travel theme for Conrad’s first birthday party, which is coming up later this month, and I decided to incorporate the colors from these plane cups and garland that match the vibe perfectly. This light-up number is a fun added piece, and the instructions say it takes under ten minutes to put it together; I just ordered it, so I will report back. These clear balloon boxes were easy to set up and made for a fun decor/photo moment.

I also got a bunch of our paper goods from Bonjour Fete. They were kind enough to extend an exclusive discount code to my readers! Use code CARALYNMIRAND for 10% off your purchase!

Let’s talk

first birthday gifts

It’s hard to know what to get for kids' birthday gifts, so I figured I’d share a few things that we’ve recently gotten, and we love. My mom got Conrad this ball pit, and he loves it! She purchased four packs of these balls to go in it. I bought this hat for Conrad and several of the kids in our family for their upcoming birthdays, would also be a cute favor idea too. This trike is a perfect addition to our outdoor play; it is good for ages 10 months to 36 months and has several modes to use, packs down, and is FAA-approved, so you can use it in the airport and store in the overhead bin! I recently got this busy board airplane, which keeps him entertained for hours. This bike is great for both indoors and outdoors. We got it around six months of age, and it’s been fun to see him grow into it.

This cake is the perfect starter puzzle and a festive idea for a birthday! These embroidered towels are ideal for the bath, pool, and beach. We got this chair for the nursery, and Conrad loves to sit (aka climb) in it and read his books. This rocker is so sweet for a nursery and is customizable, so you can add their name or initials on it. This walker is also an ice cream shop and little cart. We have been testing out a few different walkers. We started with this one, which we love and was easy to put together, and recently got this one with more pieces and activities on the front. Any go-to first birthday gifts that you’d recommend? Leave them below.
