Back at it for a freshly updated list of sports bras. I reached out to the #ProperlyFittingBraClub group to see what their favorites were and crowdsourced today’s updated favorites. Sports bras (much like all other undergarments) are based on preference. My friends at Lace & Day always say that a bra fitter’s job is to be a matchmaker, helping you find “the one” based on your shape, size, and preferences. After many years of trial and error, I’ve found that I prefer an underwire with no/minimal padding for everyday wear and high-impact exercise. For more leisurely activities, yoga and lounging, I prefer a wire-free option. In case you missed it, check out my previous post on wire-free bras. This may not work best for you, so I’ve crowdsourced a few more favorites from my community for you to consider.

It’s also important to consider that when it comes to sports bras, there are two types of support: encapsulation and compression. Compression is what you may be used to / think of most as a sports bra, but I much prefer encapsulation (underwire) for support. I cannot comfortably wear racerback styles, so many of the styles you see below have a “J-hook” which allows versatility with racerback convertibility. Another thing to remember is that when you forgo wires, you forgo separation. I included a few wire-free styles for those interested, but the same fit rules DO NOT 100% apply to styles with wires.

Numbers 1-8 are all underwire. The first four are my favorites and provide a ton of lift and support. I wear these for high-impact workouts and strength training to keep things locked and loaded. Numbers 5-7 were some of your personal favorites, which are all fit-focused and encouraged brands around here! All of these styles are encapsulation-based support. Numbers 8-12 are all wire-free and have compression-based support. These are great for smaller busts or if you’re looking for low-moderate support.
