Cabo Outfit and Trip Roundup

We recently traveled to Cabo San Lucas for our friends’ wedding, so I wanted to recap our trip, where we stayed, and what we brought along. I cannot believe it has been two years since our last trip to Cabo, our last trip before the world flipped upside down. As Buffalonians, we gladly take any chance we can to escape the snowy temperatures during these brutal winter months and were excited to celebrate our friends in the process. We stayed at Pueblo Bonita Sunset resort, where the wedding was and where everyone was staying. We booked the trip last minute, so we didn’t have much choice in the room we booked but overall had a good experience. The property was gorgeous, and they accommodated our large group well. If you’re looking for links to outfits, they will be located underneath each photo below.

Cute and comfortable is what I strive for when traveling. When going from one extreme climate to another, layers are your friend. I always like to wear my bulkiest layer and shoe to maximize luggage space. If you’re not already using packing cubes, I can’t recommend them enough. However, you can pack/organize however feels right to you, but I like to roll my clothes and organize by type. So swimsuits and coverups are in one, undergarments are another, dresses in another, etc. I do the same for Brian’s stuff!

We were gone for six days, so I brought two travel outfits (same pair of shoes and jacket for both), six swimsuits, three cover-ups, six evening outfits, pajamas/loungewear, three pairs of sandals, jewelry, sunglasses, and undergarments. For more packing tips and how I typically pack, be sure to check out this post. We love our Away luggage; check out my previous review here. But for more luggage picks, check out my curated list here!

Easy, breezy, and comfortable is what I strive for in vacation outfits. Dresses or jumpsuits are one outfit, easy to pack, and easy to wear. After a week of indulgence, the last thing I want to wear is anything that is super constricting or tight, so I’m always on the hunt for dresses. As a size 14 / L / XL - this has been NO easy feat lately! I’ve been disappointed by the number of options and how quickly things sell out, but a few places I always shop vacation luck are:

AMAZON (link is to my curated list of dresses) | AMERICAN EAGLE | BLOOMINGDALE’S | FARMRIO | J.CREW | LILLY PULITZER | LULU’S | NORDSTROM | NORDSTROM RACK | SHOPBOP | SUMMERSALT | OLD NAVY

If you have any other favorites that I missed, please leave them in the comments below, always looking for more places to shop!

I LOVE finding supportive swimwear to share with you all; looking forward to trying on more this year. After many years of trial, error, and research, I’ve found quite a few styles and brands that I prefer and make me feel amazing. I think investing in a swimsuit (or a few) that make you feel incredible is priceless. Be sure to check out the swim tab of my blog to read all of my previous reviews, more to come!

Prior to leaving for a warm weather trip, I always like to prepare with a spray tan. If interested, I have an outdated post of my routine and how I prep for it here! That way, I arrive tan (which helps me feel more confident in a swimsuit), and as it fades, my natural tan appears, so I maintain color throughout. If you’re looking to keep a suntan throughout your trip, I would highly recommend Luna Bronze or St. Tropez products.

I was struggling with finding a wedding guest dress for this! It’s in-between seasons, but I also feel like inventory has been low across brands. I’m working on an updated guide for the end of the month but be sure to check out my previous one from last year, in the meantime. Many of the styles may be sold out, but I have a list of retailers that may be helpful to start your shopping process.

I have way more pairs of sunglasses than I’m willing to admit, but these under $20 polarized ones have been SUCH a great find! I plan on repurchasing in black. They’re super lightweight on your face but very protective from the sun. For more sunglasses I love, be sure to check out this post!

Don’t mind my awkward bathroom mirror selfie; we didn’t have a full-length mirror in our room, so I had to jump at the opportunity when I could. You may have noticed I pretty much wear the same two pairs of sandals throughout the entire trip; I like to keep things neutral on my feet and wear lots of color in my dresses! More shoe and sandal picks can be found here!

We ventured out with the rest of the wedding party to a sunset cruise booked via Jungle Cruises to see Lover’s Beach. It was truly breathtaking; if you travel to Cabo - seeing this is a must!

DRESS (XL) | SUNGLASSES | SANDALS (SIZE 11)

Before we left, I wrote a post on a few essentials that I like to bring along on a beach trip. Be sure to check that out if you’re looking for more inspiration. As for whether or not we would stay at this resort, I probably would not. However, BK and I have never stayed at the same place twice; we enjoy venturing to new places and having new experiences. If it’s a place you’re considering, I will encourage you to check out TripAdvisor or any other reputable travel review sites so you can form your own opinion to see if it would be a good fit for you. Overall, I think they did a good job accommodating such a big group of people. BK and I had never traveled in such a large group before, so it was a fun experience to go with the flow on someone else’s itinerary. We hope to revisit Cabo soon! Feel free to leave any recommendations below.

As for COVID-19 Protocol, we needed a negative test to get back into the United States. We are both vaccinated and boosted, so we weren’t too concerned and felt very safe throughout our trip. Of course, comfort levels vary and are highly personal. Masks were worn while traveling and in all indoor locations. The resort administered free testing, which was easy to schedule and worked out seamlessly. Be sure to double-check your airline’s requirements before boarding.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Feel free about leaving any questions or suggestions below. Believe it or not, we are preparing for another warm-weather getaway in a few weeks, so more warm weather outfits are to come! Thank you so much for reading. xx CMK
