New Year Refresh

Health + Wellness Picks

Once the holidays are over and the new year strikes, I usually look forward to a fresh start and the chance to fall back into a routine that benefits my mind, body, and soul. To be transparent, I haven’t participated in New Year’s Resolutions over the past years but instead, try to focus on a word or two that is meaningful to me. I’m still figuring out some goals I have for the year, trying not to put too much pressure on myself. Today I wanted to share some items I use, like partaking in my routines and why.

Fitness-wise, I’ve been using the MYX Fitness Bike + system since September 2020. In case you missed my MYX Fitness review, I shared it here. I typically work out 30 minutes a day, five days a week. I’m constantly switching it up because I get bored quickly, so I usually alternate between cycling, strength training, and HIIT training. When the weather cooperates, I also really enjoy walking outdoors. This workout tank is my absolute favorite; I found myself reaching for it the most, so I have one for every day of the week now. It comes in many colors up to 3X (I wear XL). I have quite a few sports bra favorites that I’ve previously shared on this post, but I find myself wearing this one the most. I like the smooth shape and underwire support (I wear 34G). Leggings-wise, these ones are some of my favorites (I wear L)! I have a leggings for all occasions review here and the secret to making sure they don’t roll. More of my workout finds can be found here. Take care of your athleisure items with my favorite Stretch Fabric Care wash; I believe they have significantly extended the life cycle of my garments. I have a $20 pair of leggings almost two years old that are in pristine condition because of this stuff. For more delicate washing tips, check out this post!

I do like to track my activity and workouts with my Apple Watch. I have the six series in 40mm, and it keeps me motivated; I like that I can share my activity with friends so we can encourage each other. You can check out some of my favorite bands for the Apple Watch here. I work from home so if you ever stopped by during the day, you’ll see me carrying around this extra-large Yeti Mug with a straw. The straw somehow motivates me to drink more water throughout the day and keeps my water super cold. These hair-ties are great for working out, keeps my hair back without pulling too tight or damaging the hair.

Taking care of my mental health is a priority for me, especially this time of the year. I struggle with seasonal depression and the wind-down from the holidays. I’ve previously shared a post on what I do when feeling overwhelmed, which I refer to a lot. I’m a big fan of making lists, so I write daily in a journal, even if it’s just random to-do’s or ideas that I have with my favorite pens. They write so smoothly! I’m also a big fan of Equilbria CBD; I’ve talked more about my journey with CBD here. I’m going on my third year of using it, and I’m very grateful to have it a part of my daily routine. I highly encourage you to take their quiz or schedule a call with a dosage counselor to determine the best regimen for your lifestyle. Use “caralynmirand50” until January 15th and “caralynmirand” after that for a discount.

I don’t follow any meal plan but I know that I feel better when I am nourishing my body throughout the day with lots of fruits, vegetables and protein. After workouts, I like to make a shake with Ritual Protein (use CMK10), frozen banana, strawberries, spinach and almond milk in my NutriBullet. I got this blender before our move because I disliked our old one and wanted something inexpensive to hold me over until I decided which one I wanted to invest in but it’s quickly become my favorite! I use it almost everyday and can’t recommend it enough, does well in the dishwasher. I also take Ritual vitamins (going on four years now) and highly recommend those.

I appreciate you reading through some of my favorite health and wellness picks, I hope you enjoyed. Feel free to leave any questions or suggestions for posts below. Thanks for reading! xx CMK
