10 Wire-Free Bra Favorites

Let’s talk wire-free bras. If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that I preach the importance of properly fitting bras! If you’re newer around here, welcome! I encourage you to check out this post on what to expect at a proper bra fitting and 15 of your most asked undergarment questions.

When it comes to wire-free bras, most of the rules that you’ve learned go straight out the window. Wait, what?! Yes, you read correctly. Here’s the thing— when you forgo wires, you forgo separation and your opportunity for the best lift and support. If you’re one of those people who can’t stand underwire bras, I guess you’ve never been fitted properly! To be honest, I never liked wearing underwire bras until they fit how they were supposed to. Of course, everyone is different, and some people can’t wear underwire for various medical reasons, but generally speaking, that’s the case. It always hurts my heart a little bit when I see people posting wire-free bras as their favorite “everyday bra,” which brings me to my next point…

Time and place

It’s helpful to think about bras like shoes, you have different shoes for different occasions - the same goes for bras! There are a variety of situations when wire-free (you’ll also hear me call them comfort or lounging) bras are appropriate or preferred. For someone large and heavy-breasted like myself, it can be incredibly painful to go without an underwire bra while moving around and sitting at my desk. While innovation has come a long way, I’ll notice my poor posture and clothes don’t fit as nicely. You can check out this list of some of my go-to underwire bras and fit-focused brands worth checking out. As soon as it’s time to log off for the day, I’ll throw on one of my favorite comfort options - shared below. Please keep in mind that these bras are recommended under the preface that they are comfort/lounging bras for me, sometimes I’ll travel in them too. Some women prefer to sleep in these styles as well.

Regardless, just promise me you won’t expect to run a mile in any of these, you can check out my sports bra favorites for that! With that said, I think all of these do a great job and supporting me (considering there are no wires). You can click on the text to shop products/brands directly. I’ve included options for a wide sizing range from small to fuller busted.

Norah Comfort Supportive Wirefree Bra

If you’re a fan of the Norah Underwire bra, you will love the underwire version. It has that same smooth look, an adjustable strap and hook in the back! I wear 36H.

True Body Lift Triangle Adjustable Strap Bra

This feels like butter and has adjustable straps. It has removable cups so I’ll add/take them out accordingly. I wear L, full cup.

SoftStretch Padded V-Neck Bra

This is one of the few wire-free bras that has sewn in cups. They don’t budge in the wash either, I wear XL/2X in this one.

True Body Lift Scoop Neck Bra

I always throw on this style when I want ultimate comfort and back smoothing! I wear L, full cup in this style.

Say Never Curvy Sweetie Bralette

If you’re looking for maximum support in a wire free bra that is pretty with slim straps, this one is it. It comes in a range of styles, sizes and also a nursing option. I wear large.

Defy Bra

This particular bra didn’t work for me due to the almost racerback and neck issues but I’ve seen it work really well for others, it gives some of the most incredible lift I’ve ever seen.

Tummy Tucker from bra20

Technically this is not a bra, but consider this an “after-bra” - it gives a little bit of lift and support without any shelf bra built in. Many like to wear this as pajamas too. Check their unique sizing chart, I wear medium.

Butter Bralette

For my smaller busted ladies, this is a fantastic option. It personally gives almost no support to me but the fabric is luxurious. I know many smaller busted friends that love this bra! I wear XL.

Panache Andorra

This is another option made for fuller busts that looks like an underwire bra but isn’t. It has slim adjustable straps and a hook in the back, making it a good option if you are looking for a lacy option that you’d like to peek out of clothes. I wear 34GG.

ELOMI Cate Full Figure Soft Cup Bra

Elomi gals, this one is for you! This bra has been in development for quite some time and gives an incredible amount of lift, support and some separation. If you are very full busted, definitely check out this one! I wear 34GG.

Thank you so much for reading my updated list of wire-free bra options, have you tried any of the ones listed above? I’d love to hear. According to some of the members in #ProperlyFittingBraClub Facebook group, here are a few of their favorite wire-free comfort styles not mentioned above. A fit-focused retailer and style that I’d recommend checking out is the Natori - Bliss Perfection Contour Soft Cup Bra. There are also some not very fit-focused brands overall for underwire bras, but these wire-free styles look promising. Harper Wilde - The Bliss (up to 3X), Spanx - Bra-llelujah!® Lightly Lined Bralette (good for smaller busts, USE CARALYN10), Aerie Eyelash Lace Plunge Bralette, and Hanes Women's Cozy Seamless Wire Free Bra.
