RING IN THE NEW YEAR

LET’S GET ORGANIZED!

While I’m not really feeling up for making any formal resolutions this year, I’ve definitely caught the itch to reorganize and declutter. The start of a new year always feels like a fresh slate, doesn’t it? There’s something so motivating about turning the page and setting yourself up for success in the months ahead. Whether you’re tackling chaotic closets, streamlining daily routines, or finally figuring out how to stop losing your keys (these will be your BFF, paired with these), getting organized can truly feel like a game-changer.

In this post, I’m sharing my go-to tips, tricks, and tried-and-true tools to help you kick off the year on the right foot. Because let’s be real—a little organization can go a long way toward making life feel more manageable and enjoyable!

Tools to get started

Having the right tools can make all the difference when it comes to getting organized. Over time, I’ve discovered some absolute game-changers that keep my space tidy and functional. Shoe slots help me maximize vertical space in my closet, while velvet hangers and pants hangers keep my wardrobe looking neat and uniform. For pantry and kitchen organization, clear storage bins, a lazy Susan, and a spice rack are my go-to items for keeping everything visible and accessible. This tumbler storage keeps my cabinets from becoming an avalanche zone. These blue bags are perfect for seasonal storage, moving, and donations—they’re durable and easy to stash away. In my laundry room, a drying rack keeps my clothes neatly contained in one area, preventing them from being scattered while drying. I have used these baskets throughout the house to corral everything from toys to snacks in the pantry. These items have become staples in my quest for a more organized home—and I hope they’ll inspire you to tackle your own spaces!

HELPFUL TIPS I FOLLOW WHEN ORGANIZING

Here are a few helpful tips I follow when getting organized:

  1. Start with a clean slate

Before diving into any decluttering project, I always make sure everything is clean. I run the dishwasher, tackle all the laundry, and clear the counters. It’s amazing how much easier it is to see what you’re working with when everything is tidy—and it prevents me from underestimating the space I actually have to work with!

  2. Focus on one area at a time

I’ve learned the hard way that trying to tackle too much at once can leave me overwhelmed. Instead, I pick one spot—like my closet, pantry, or basement—and go all in. I create three piles: keep, donate, and toss. It can be hard to part with things, but I try to be honest about what I truly need and love. The feeling of a decluttered space makes it so worth it.

  3. Set up systems that Make sense for your life

Once the space is cleared, I focus on finding solutions that actually work for my day-to-day. For physical clutter, I love storage bins, labels, and drawer organizers. For digital chaos, I’ve started organizing my files into folders, unsubscribing from unnecessary emails, and using a shared calendar to keep our family on the same page. It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect—it just has to work for you.

  4. Build Small, sustainable habits

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that staying organized isn’t a one-time effort—it’s all about the habits you create. I start small, like spending 10 minutes tidying up before bed or writing out my to-do list for the week. These little routines help me feel more in control and make maintaining organization much more manageable.

  5. Schedule regular check-ins

Life gets busy, and it’s so easy for things to fall out of place. That’s why I make it a point to schedule time each month to assess and refresh my systems. Whether it’s reorganizing a drawer or re-evaluating a family calendar, these quick check-ins keep everything running smoothly—and prevent me from feeling overwhelmed down the road.
